Supporting Youth and Adult Employment

The Centre was originally established in the small rural community of Burleigh Falls in 1985. Our Centre is now the primary delivery agency offering youth and adult employment services through the Job Connect Program to Lakefield, Young’s Point, Burleigh Falls, Woodview, Apsley, Buckhorn, Warsaw, Douro, Curve Lake, Bridgenorth and Ennismore.

The Job Connect Program provides:

• An Employment, Skilled Trades and Labour Market Information Centre
  through the Information and Resource Service
  
  • For individuals of all ages to access employment services
  • Peterborough examiner job classifieds; local community newspapers
  • Develop a job search strategy, learn about interview skills and techniques
  • Access to internet for job search, sending e-resumes, researching employers
  • Research local labour market trends
  • Resume and cover letter preparation
  • Photocopying and faxing
  • Training
  • Workshops
    
    
• Planning and Placement services through Employment Planning and Preparation and Job Development and Placement Support
  
  • For individuals 16 and over, eligible to work in Canada, out of work/school/training, and not receiving Employment Insurance benefits or WSIB
  • Focuses on helping individuals make a successful transition to employment, return to the labour force, or further their education and training goals
  • May include job placement incentives
  • May also include training incentives

We also provide:

• Summer Jobs Service Program
  
  • For students 15 to 24 returning to full time school in the fall
  • Provides free services to improve your job-search and self-marketing skills
  • $ 2/hour wage support for jobs with employers
